The Listening Perspectives Study Center
Presents
A Hands-on Learning Experience in Applying Psychoanalytic, Psychodynamic, and Relational Theory as Well as Law and Ethics to Ongoing Case Work
Psychodynamic Relational Psychotherapy today requires not only that a long-term relationship be allowed to develop with the client to maximize transference and countertransference development, but that the therapist/analyst be willing to maintain an ongoing relationship with peer and expert consultants to review his or her ongoing work in light of advanced theory and peer opinion. Additionally, current ethical and legal guidelines require that we regularly discuss difficult situations and countertransference reactions with peers to be certain that we maintain objectivity and current standards of practice.
Weekly Ongoing seminar groups meet every day for 90 minutes at the Listening Perspectives Study Center in Orange, California. The monthly fee of $200 includes a once-a-month didactic session in which current book and papers of theoretical and clinical importance are read and discussed by the group and the group leader.
Learning Goals:
--To gain experience in organizing and presenting your clinical experiences for peer and expert consultation,
--To learn through group discussion, advanced clinical readings, and didactic sessions how to apply current psychodynamic and relational theory to actual case material—your own and that of colleagues,
--To deepen your knowledge of the full range of transference, resistance, and countertransference manifestations recognized in today’s clinical practice and how to work with them,
--To sharpen your clinical skills in working with
narcissistic, borderline, schizoid, organizing, and psychotic states, and
--To learn how to practice defensively in order to face the challenge of
liability in psychotherapy today in light of escalating law suits, ethical
complaints, and board actions.
